Learn about the magic of theater while immersed in fun, creative, collaborative play!
Most programs are held at the Majestic Theater’s rehearsal space, Baldwin Street Studios (168 Baldwin Street, West Springfield, MA), and will allow small groups of young actors to work with our experienced staff of theater educators. Our 12,000 sq.ft. building on Baldwin Street is also home to our set construction and costume shops, and the rehearsal hall has a floor that is painted with an outline that is the exact dimensions of the Majestic’s stage, making it the perfect place for participants to learn and grow as performers.
Join us for six weeks of creativity, imagination, and fun! Led by teaching artist Rachel Lamarre, Theater As Play is designed for young performers who love to play, make new friends, and explore the world of theater in a welcoming and supportive environment. Through theater games, improvisation, storytelling, and movement, participants will build confidence, collaboration skills, and performance fundamentals. Every class is packed with laughter, creativity, and age-appropriate activities that encourage self-expression while fostering friendships and teamwork. Whether your child is brand new to theater or already loves being on stage, Theater As Play offers a fun, low-pressure introduction to acting and performance while creating lasting memories with new friends.

6 Week Workshop-Theater As Play ages 7-10
Take your acting skills to the next level in this eight-week workshop led by Majestic Summer Apprentice Diogo Dias. Through improvisation, scene study, ensemble exercises, and rehearsal techniques, students will develop the core tools actors use to create compelling performances. Participants will strengthen their abilities in character development, communication, active listening, and creative problem-solving while learning how to work effectively as part of an ensemble. Designed for both new and experienced performers, this collaborative class encourages students to take creative risks, support one another, and build confidence on and off the stage in a positive, engaging environment.
