EUREKA DAY
by JONATHAN SPECTOR
Jonathan Spector’s Eureka Day is a thoughtful, sharply written comedy that began at Berkeley’s Aurora Theatre Company in 2018 and has since made acclaimed stops in London and on Broadway, most recently winning the Tony for Best Revival of a Play. Set at the Eureka Day private school, it follows well‑meaning parents and trustees as they navigate a sensitive public health concern—one that tests personal convictions, community responsibility, and the art of listening. Never taking sides, the play uses humor and insight to explore how neighbors can find common ground even when opinions differ. It’s a comedy that lets us laugh at ourselves a little, and maybe recognize that even in disagreement, we have more in common than we think.
