A unique one woman virtuoso theatrical concert which blends the great melodic beauty of Italian and American cultures featuring "O mio babbino caro" and other famous Puccini arias from Madame Butterfly, Tosca and La Bohème; Broadway hits from Phantom of the Opera, My Fair Lady, West Side Story; modern Disney classics, Italian international hits, the all time favorite "Moon River"... and beyond. An inspiring way to celebrate Columbus Day!
This concert was created by Pina Magri, soprano soloist in several soundtracks by Academy Award winner Maestro Ennio Morricone and studio recording vocalist for Disney productions.
Her bilingual background is a special blend of Italian and American cultures: she graduated from Smith College magna cum laude in Art History and French, and she has a degree in Voice from the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome. Her voice ranges in style from musical theater to opera, and from jazz to pop. She has worked as lyric soprano with the Chorus of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Opera House in Florence Italy as well as with Italian National television as pop vocalist.
She had the honor of singing three times as psalm soloist for Pope John Paul II and has performed as singer/actress in several musicals in Europe including My Fair Lady, West Side Story, Man of La Mancha, The Fantasticks, and Il Ritratto di Dorian Gray. She is also a composer, and her poetic and musical elaboration of Bach's Air on the G string "Nell'Anima" included on a CD compilation to help build a hospital in Africa sold 300,000 records in Italy. A few years ago she received the Gold Medal International Award "Foyer des Artistes" from the University "La Sapienza" in Rome for her contribution to the Italian and American vocal traditions.
